Full and partial dentures available

A complete (or full) denture is one that replaces all of the natural teeth in either the upper or lower jaw, allowing you to chew and giving support to the cheeks and lips.

Partial dentures fill the spaces which are created when one or more teeth are lost. They attach to your natural teeth with metal clasps or precision attachments. Flexible, acrylic dentures are also available which grip the adjacent teeth to remain in place.

Dentures can be made from a variety of materials, including acrylic (plastic), metal or peek. The teeth are normally made of acrylic and are matched to the colour of your natural teeth. This is especially important in the case of partial dentures.

Denture benefits

  • No more restrictions on what you can eat
  • Comfortable fitting as well as perfoming and looking like normal teeth
  • Help improve your smile and confidence in social situations
  • Reduces facial sagging and help prevent you from looking older compared to having missing teeth
  • Reduce the rate at which your oral bone structure will disintegrate
  • Easier to pronounce words and speak normally

Denture usage and aftercare

Dentures impose very few restrictions on what you can and can't eat once you get used to wearing them. Correctly fitting dentures are vital for enjoying a well balanced diet that can include a wide range of foods. They will, however, never be as efficient as your natural teeth.

It is important to contact us if you experience eating difficulties, as poorly fitting dentures can lead to further problems. Dentures can become discoloured as well as chip, break and bend if they are not looked after properly.

Below are a few tips for taking care of them:

  • Don't use a normal toothbrush on dentures as these can be too harsh. Instead use a specially designed for denture brush
  • Keep your dentures in a container of denture-cleaning solution or water when not wearing them
  • Don't soak in hot water as this can damage their shape. Instead soak in warm water
  • Use approved cleansing tablets at least once a week to kill the bacteria which can cause odour
